About
An architect’s attention, turned toward everyday life.
Vaishali Sharma is co-founder of FD Design, New Delhi. Over more than twenty-six years she has worked across architecture, interiors and residential design, with a steady focus on comfort, material behaviour and the way a space is actually used.
Her training began at the Sir JJ College of Architecture in Mumbai — one of India’s oldest schools of architecture — and her practice has carried that grounding into decades of built work in Delhi and beyond.
In 2000 she co-founded FD Design with Architect Raghu Sharma. Within the practice her work centres on interior architecture, materials and detailing, and the residential experience: the parts of a project where design is tested most directly against daily use.
A home is not finished when it photographs well. It is finished when it works through an ordinary week without being thought about.
That belief shapes how she approaches a project. A well-designed home, in her view, has to hold up against routine — the early mornings, the shared spaces, the storage that is never enough, the way light moves through a room at different hours, and the small frictions that decide whether a space feels easy or tiring to live in.
